Sometimes I wonder why the ending of a thing is
almost always characterized by “Rush Syndrome”. In Safety my profession, once a
project is grinding to a halt that is when you start experiencing injuries,
Lost time accidents, diseases that where more or less not there at the
beginning and middle of the project. That’s because humans by nature tend to
throw caution to the wind when the end is almost neigh. Same can also be said
during the ending parts of the year, also called the “ember months” in my
country Nigeria. Above is a scene that greeted me this morning November 1st,
as I was on my way to work at about 7.15am. The vehicle crashed into the fence
of Western Boys Sec. Schl. just opposite Guinness Nigeria Plc, Benin. “Me thinks
the driver wanted to park well, while under the influence”. But all the same I give
him a “thumbs up” for not crashing into the electric pole.
Please this is a time to take FRSCs’ road warnings
seriously!
