As part of efforts of Ogun State government to maintain the zero dose of polio virus and strengthen the health status of children against polio and other killer diseases in the state particularly at the border towns with Republic of Benin, a synchronized Immunization Plus Days (IPDs) will be conducted along border communities of three local government areas in Ogun state sharing boundary with Republic of Benin.
A released from the Director, Primary Health Care, Dr. Kafayat Lawal indicates that the synchronized immunization days which come-up between Friday 25th to Monday 28th October, 2013 at Atapele, Iwoye,
Idofa, Agberiodo and Ilara in Imeko-Afon Local Government Area, Ajegunle, Idiroko, Ifoyintedo and ijofin in Ipokia Local Government Area and Ohunbe, Ebute and Ijoun in Yewa North local government area respectively for children between the ages of 0-59months.
The release added that eligible children along these border local government areas who might have been missed during immunization sessions and campaigns would have the opportunity to be captured.
According to Dr. Lawal: “We are giving the children between the ages of 0-59months in the border towns of Ogun State with Republic of Benin the opportunity to be immunized against polio due to inter-border proliferation of mothers and caregivers during the previous immunization campaign carried-out”.
She therefore enjoined mothers and caregivers in the aforementioned communities to make their wards available for the exercise to protect them against polio.
