Baraje-Led PDP Secretariat Marked for Demolition

The secretariat of the Abubakar Baraje-led faction of the Peoples' Democratic Party (PDP), popularly referred to as the New PDP, at Maitama District has been marked for demolition.
The Punch newspaper is reporting that Federal Capital Development Authority, FCDA, inscribed demolition notice on the wall and gate of the building on 4, Oyi River Crescent dated October 11, 2013.
Last Friday, a Federal High Court sitting in Abuja ruled that activities of the Abubakar Baraje led New PDP are illegal and ordered INEC to only recognise party's National Working Committee NWC, led by Bamanga Tukur as the authentic PDP.
According to the newspaper, the police van and Armoured Personnel Carrier stationed at the property have, however, been removed.
The planned demolition notice is believed to be a decisive move by the NWC of the PDP to crush the rival faction. Following the court ruling, the National Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Olisa Metuh, had warned that the party will tolerate any breakaway factions.
"We wish therefore to state with all emphasis that any group of persons parading themselves as leaders of this organ of our party are impostors and must be treated as criminals by all and sundry," he said.
"Henceforth, the leadership of the PDP will no longer tolerate or condone any meeting, utterances, press statements and/or activities whatsoever under the name, flag and colour of the PDP by any unauthorized person or group(s) under any guise."
Meanwhile, the FCDA has re-opened the Adamawa State Governor's Lodge it sealed after the members of the New PDP had relocated there following the police blockage of its secretariat on 4 Oyi River Crescent.
The FCDA said the lodge was sealed It was because was being used for political activities against the function for which it was approved for.
The Adamawa State Governor, Murtala Nyako, is among seven PDP governors that are members of the Baraje faction.
